Poem Contest Results!

Thank you to all the participants who took the time to share what they were thankful for. It was a great joy to read and learn more about the amazing 4-H’ers in St. John Parish. It was great to see the all the amazing passions and the time it took to reflect on what is important in life.

4-H Summer Camp

For: 4th– 6th Graders

When: June 10th—14th 2019

Where: Camp Grant Walker

Cost: $50.00

Members will stay in cabins (girl and boys will have their own cabins) with the 4-H agent or a volunteer. Campers will have tracks to select from for the beginning of the day and then rotate through different activities at the end of the day.

The cost includes: Camp fees, travel, meals for the week, camp T-shirt, camp picture, parish T-shirt, and snacks.

Valentines for the Veterans

Get creative and make some Valentines for the local Veterans! Every person needs a reminder someone out there cares for them. Most of these Veterans will not even get a visit, so let show them that 4-H cares and make as many valentines as we can!

Have your first and last name, grade and club sent to the 4-H office and the cards must be delivered by the school leader.

DUE: February 13th!

Honey Bee Essay Contest

Essay Topic: Each jar of honey reflects an unrepeatable combination of climate, soil, weather and flowers. Each state has unique honey varietals that beekeepers can market to their customers. Please identify one unique varietal to your state and discuss the flower’s uniqueness and how beekeepers can effectively market that varietal. In your essay, please include a photo of the varietal’s flower, an interview with a local beekeeper who collects this varietal and recipe that highlights the varietal.
