FCS Nutrition Advisory Council Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date: Thursday, October 13, 2016

Time: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Location: LaPlace Library, LaPlace, LA

The meeting was opened by Cynthia Clifton at 10:16 a.m. Cynthia Clifton welcomed everyone to the meeting.

A motion was made by Patti Rodrigue to approve the July 7, 2016 minutes with no corrections and seconded by Laureen Arceneaux. Motion passed.

Old Business:

  • The Men’s Health Symposium that was scheduled for Saturday, November 19, 2016 has been postponed until further notice.
  • Upcoming advertisement of events are being publicized in newspaper and social media.
  • Information is being placed in libraries.
  • Healthy Communities Forum scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 9:00 – 12:00 p.m. at St. James Parish Library in Lutcher, LA.

New Business:

  • Teen Town Hall Summit, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 8:30 – 2:00 p.m. at Regala Gym.
  • Cookery Contest at WSJH on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 9:00 – 12:00 p.m.
  • Safety program with Jr. Leaders
  • Home Depot obstacle course in parking lot
  • Exercise on football field with kids from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
  • Cookery contest with seniors and children (collect prizes from businesses)
  • Fast Food Farm with Head Start kids – October 24, 2016
  • Safety with kids with Sheriff Office 2 times a month. (Halloween Safety)
  • Veteran Home visit
  • Senior/child dance (at senior home) (Christmas/Mardi Gras)

The next FCS Nutrition Advisory Council meeting is TBA at a later date. Ms. Clifton thanked everyone for attending the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
