4th-12th Graders, join our Afterschool Robotics Club using the Lego Spike Prime System powered by Drax. Learn coding & engineering & compete with other teams! For both beginners & advanced!

Fall 4-H Fun Day at Kiroli Park

Fall 4-H Fun Day at Kiroli Park
October 15, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM
Schedule & Info

Call 318-323-2251 to pre-register your pet by October 10. Youth must be enrolled in current year 4-H program to participate. Kona Ice will be set up selling snow cones & possibly coffee at the event! Pet Show will begin at 8:15 AM with the following categories:

  • Small/Medium Dogs (0-40lb)
  • Large Dogs (over 40lb)
  • Cats
  • Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, mice, Hamsters, Gerbils, & any other rodents
  • Fish, Amphibian, Reptiles
  • Unusual Pets (may be any domestic pet not listed in any other category)

No animals found in the wild are permitted (i.e. alligators, squirrels, raccoons, etc.). Each participant will be asked a few simple questions about their animal.

Rules:

  • All pets must always be under control, & no aggressive pets.
  • Each member can bring only one pet.
  • All pets must be leashed or in enclosure, i.e. kennel, bowl, carrier, aquarium, etc.
  • Contestants must clean up after their pets.
  • If staying for rotation sessions, parent or guardian must be responsible for pet after pet show. Adults are welcome to stay with pets or take them home after pet show.

There will be an educational table area set up. After the Pet Show will be the Bike Rodeo, Fishing/Casting, & Nerf Gun events with educational information given at each area by West Monroe PD, Wildlife & Fisheries, & the Core of Engineers. Rod & Reels & Nerf equipment will all be provided at the event. If you are going to participate in bike rodeo, please bring your bicycle & helmet. You can still rotate to bike rodeo & listen to educational presentation & watch participants if you do not bring a bike.

Any 4-H member grades 4-12 is welcome. Games include Rocket League, Smash Brothers, Mario Cart (Jr. only). There are monthly practices & regional competitions. Practices will be the first Monday each month, 5-6pm on the following dates:

Join the Ouachita 4-H Seaperch Team!

Louisiana 4-H SeaPerch logo.For 6th-12th grade 4-H members, SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips students, educators, & parents with the resources they need to build an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) in an in- or out-of-school setting. Practices are at 4pm on the following dates:

Kiroli Park 100 Year Celebration

Black Halloween cat.Kiroli Park 100 Year Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 18. Ouachita 4-H members will have a Pet Parade at the event. The West Monroe Pet Mayor, Plumber the Cat from Neighborhood Vet Clinic, will be Grand Marshall. We will meet to assemble in the area to the side of the main stage at 11 AM. The Pet Parade will begin 11:15-11:30 AM directly after the award ceremony on the stage. You can decorate a wagon, a cart, a pull kennel, etc. for your float; or you can have your pet on a leash or carry your pet. You can even have your pet dressed up! Please do not bring any aggressive animals. Make sure that you are always in control of your animal. We get to showcase our pets & have fun together!

National 4-H Week is October 5-11, 2025!

4-H clover logo.National 4-H Week, the first full week of October, is a week-long celebration of 4-H across the country. During National 4-H Week, promote 4-H in your school & community with fun activities. Some ideas include providing refreshments for school staff, placing 4-H signs on lockers of members, placing posters throughout the school, & having a 4-H member read a PSA each morning!

The Ouachita 4-H Bulletin will be distributed monthly at the school club meetings from September thru April. It will also be available on our website, https://www.lsuagcenter.com/portals/our_offices/parishes/ouachita/features/4-h/newsletters

Ouachita 4-H Photography Club

Join our Ouachita 4-H Photography Club, led by West Monroe Mayor, Staci Mitchell. Photography Club fee of $20 includes a t-shirt & supplies for activities. Our October meetings are scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 6-7pm & Saturday, Oct 4, 9-11 am at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center.

Ouachita 4-H Shooting Sports Round Robin

Ouachita 4-H Shooting Sports Round Robin is scheduled for Sunday, October 19 from 2-4 PM at the OPSO Range! Open to all Ouachita 4-H members who have enrolled for the current year in 4-H & are interested in Shooting Sports. Members will be able to try each of the disciplines: Archery, Rifle, & Shotgun. You will be able to join Shooting Sports that day or you can join in the 4-H Online Enrollment system under Events. Practices for our Shooting Sports members will begin on Sunday, October 26 from 2-4 PM at the OPSO Range. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Regional SS Competition: March 6-15, Shreveport
  • State SS Competition: April 10-19, Baton Rouge
  • Fun Day with Awards/Recognitions: May 3, 2-4pm, OPSO Range

Ouachita 4-H Zoo Club

Pink flamingo graphic.Come join the Ouachita 4-H Zoo Club! There will be a service project & educational program presented at each meeting (dress in comfortable clothes with closed toe shoes). Sign in & drop off/pick up location is just inside the zoo gate. We have some fun new surprises for the upcoming year! Zoo Club will meet 9am-12pm at Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo (1405 Bernstein Park Rd., Monroe).

School Pumpkin Decorating Contest!!

Carved pumpkin.Each school will have a pumpkin decorating contest. Bring your decorated pumpkin to your school by October 27 to be displayed & judged at the school. There will be 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners at each school that participates. Pumpkin pictures will be posted on our Facebook page! Real or fake pumpkins may be used. We look forward to seeing all the amazing & creative pumpkins! Happy Fall Y’all!

Tractor Supply Winter Paper Clover Campaign

The dates for the Tractor Supply Winter Paper Clover Campaign are November 28-December 14, 2025. Head out to your local Tractor Supply store, located at 201 Mane Street in West Monroe & buy a paper clover to help support your parish 4-H program!
