2025 NELA Agriculture Photo Contest

  • All photos must relate to Agriculture
  • Open to all 4-H youth, grades 4-12
  • Two Age Divisions:
    • Grades 4th-6th
    • Grades 7th-12th

  3. Any Other Horticulture

All photos will be displayed during the Northeast Louisiana District Livestock Show in Delhi, January 30-February 1, 2025. Photographs are due to the Ouachita 4-H Office no later than 4:30 PM, Friday, January 17, 2025!! Questions: Contact Ashley Powell at apowell@agcenter.lsu.edu

Bead Art Contest!

Let the good times roll by creating an art project with Mardi Gras beads! Use beads to create a colorful picture! Art must be on an 8.5x11 board or backing. There will be 2 judging categories, 4th-6th & 7th-12th grades. Please write your name, grade & school on the back. Due to the 4-H office by Friday, January 31.

Join the Ouachita 4-H Photography Club

Join us Sunday, January 12 at 1:00 PM at the Ouachita Parish Livestock Show at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center (501 Mane St, West Monroe, LA 71292). We will be taking photos of the members showing their animals!

Join our monthly club, led by West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell, for hands-on lessons & activities, service projects, & fun! Each month at a new location! Compete in photography contests, portfolios, Art Crawl, & a 4-H art showcase! Participate regularly to earn a photography rewards trip!

Join the Ouachita 4-H Seaperch Team

For 6th-12th grade members, there are limited spots, you must call (318) 323-2251 or email bcorona@agcenter.lsu.edu to join. Teams will have a Build Day (January 21, 10AM-3PM), then practice about once each week during February & will compete March 1 and/or March 8. Spots are very limited. There is some flexibility with practice & competition attendance. Email questions to bcorona@agcenter.lsu.edu

Jr. Leaders!!

7th-12th graders, come join us Saturday, January 18, 9AM-1PM at the 4-H office as we cook lunch for The Simple Project, play games, & plan our Spring Cereal Wars. At 11:30 we will go to The Simple Project to serve the meal we cook!

Junior Leadership Conference (JLC)

Open to all 4-H members age 14 years & older in grades 8th-12th. Junior Leadership Conference will be held March 7-9, 2025 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA. This year’s theme is “Jungle Journey to Leadership”. The session choices are: Scavenging for Citizenship; Conquering Conflict (Resolution); Safari Survival (Life) Skills; & The Hunt for Success (Professionalism). The registration form will be available on our Facebook Page, Ouachita 4-H. The Cost is $150. Please make checks payable to Ouachita 4-H. Please mail or drop off registration forms & fees to our office at 704 Cypress Street, West Monroe, LA 71291 by 4:30 PM, Monday, February 3, 2025.

LA 4-H Citizenship Board Blast Off!

  • Mardi Gras Clover Ball

    4th-6th grade members, join us for a night of fun & dancing! Come dressed in your ball gown or mask if you’d like! The ball is scheduled for Friday, January 24, 6-8:30 PM at the 4-H office. Admission is $10 (free for Krewe of Clovers members). Concessions will cost $2 each. A parent or guardian must come inside to sign youth in & give emergency information, phone number, who is picking them up, etc. Email bcorona@agcenter.lsu.edu with questions.     Ouachita 4-H Krewe of Clovers

    Congratulations to our Krewe of Clovers members on their titles! Thank you for your donations to 4-H. Make sure to come watch their Coronation February 7 or watch for them in the Krewe de Riviere Parade February 8!

    Ouachita 4-H Livestock Team!

    Good luck to our Livestock Show Team at the parish, district, & state shows in the next month! Ouachita Parish 4-H Livestock Show will be January 12, 2025 & the Northeast District Livestock Show will be January 29-February 1, 2025.

    Ouachita 4-H Zoo Club

    Join us Saturday, January 18, 9 AM - 12 PM & learn about the world of animals & the Louisiana Wetlands Habitat! Meet the 4-H group at the front gate of the zoo (1405 Bernstein Park Drive, Monroe).

    Robotics Club

    4th-12th graders, join our afterschool Robotics Club using the Lego Spike Prime System. Learn coding, engineering, & compete with other teams! Parent & youth must sign waiver upon arrival.

    Beginner club: 4-5 PM
    Advanced club: 5-6 PM
