Fall Foods Fest – Cookery Contest

Monday, November 18.

Check in: 5:15-5:30 pm.

Awards Begin: 7 pm.

Members bring a prepared dish on ice, & garnish, to be judged for prizes!

Dish Categories:

  • Chicken
  • Corn
  • Egg
  • Heart Healthy Ground Beef
  • Pecan
  • Quick-N-Easy Ground Beef
  • Rice Any Other
  • Rice Main Dish
  • Sweet Potato

Members can choose 1 category or all 9, but only 1 dish per category. 4-H’ers with winning dishes will compete against other parishes in the Northeast Region Cookery on February 6, 2025. Food & Fitness Day Camp

Monday, October 14 at Kiroli Park, 9am-12pm. $5 entry fee. Grades 4-8 are welcome!

Space is limited. Call (318) 323-2251 to register.

Hands To Larger Service Workshop

October 10, 5-6:30 pm, 704 Cypress St., West Monroe.

Join us as we build & paint a produce pantry for the Children’s Coalition & learn what service-learning is! Wear something that can get paint on it!

Must be 9 years old by January 1, 2025.

4-H dues are $8. Shooting Sports registration fees are $30 per child, with a family maximum of $50.

All entries due by October 25.

Winner will receive $20.00. Limit one entry per 4-H’er. Put name & school on entries.

National 4-H Week

To celebrate National 4-H Week, let’s Paint the Parish Green on Friday, October 11!

4-H Members & Supporters: Wear green or 4-H attire. Distribute clover ribbons from the 4-H office! To enter, post a photo of your outfit in the comments of the Facebook post on Friday!

Businesses/Offices: Create a green/4-H display in your window, lobby, or front yard! To register, email us by October 8! Judging will take place on Friday.

Ouachita 4-H Photography Club

Join our monthly club, led by West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell, for hands-on lessons and activities, service projects, & fun! Each month at a new location! Compete in photography contests, portfolios, Art Crawl, & a 4-H art showcase! Participate regularly to earn a photography rewards trip!

Ouachita Livestock Show Team Presents Livestock Lane

At the Ark-La-Miss Fair! Livestock Exhibit (Petting Zoo) inside the Ike Hamilton Expo Center.

October 3 & 4, 5-9 PM … October 5 & 6, 1-8 PM

Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Due at the 4-H office Friday October 25.

Only Rules:

  • Must use a fake pumpkin
  • Must be appropriate

Categories will be broken out once all entries are in. Those that are alike will be judged & awarded.

Things we are looking for: creativity & artistic skill.

Pumpkins will be displayed the following week at City Hall.

Robotics Club

4th-12th graders, join our afterschool Robotics Club using the Lego Spike Prime System. Learn coding, engineering, & compete with other teams! Parent & youth must sign waiver upon arrival.

Beginner club: 4-5 PM

Advanced club: 5-6 PM

  • Go Hunting & fill your form! Take pics as you go & tag Ouachita 4-H on Facebook!
  • Turn the form in at 4-H office or email to bcorona@agcenter.lsu.edu by the end of Friday, October 11!

Multiple winners will be selected. Prizes available while supplies last!
