It is also important that everyone planning on attending is aware that the Mayor of New Orleans has stated that the Vaccine/Negative Covid Test to enter the New Orleans Arena will remain in place through Mardi Gras.Mardi Gras is on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.The game is on Friday, March 4, 2022.We don’t expect the vaccine/negative covid test will be lifted by the time of the game.Also for on-court participation you must be fully vaccinated (please see the on-court event participation agreement).
From the Pelicans: Important: As of December 2021, any student 12 years of age & older must provide proof of at least one dose of an approved COVID vaccine or negative PCR, molecular, or antigen test within 72 hours to enter the Smoothie King Center.

4-H Camp at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock is back!! Summer Camp is for grades 4-6. Save the Date! Ouachita 4-H camp dates are July 4-7, 2022. More details will be available in our March newsletter.
The Louisiana Beef Industry Council Beef Poster Contest encourages participants to learn more about the beef industry, meat science, & nutrition while developing marketing, communication, organization, & research skills. The 2022 Beef Poster Contest Theme is “All About Beef”. Participants may compete in either the poster or digital competition! Details & rules will be available soon on our Facebook page, Ouachita 4-H. Posters or digital entries are due to the Ouachita 4-H office by March 11, 2022. This contest is open to 4-H & FFA members in grades 4-12!

8th-12th graders will have the opportunity to sharpen their marketing & financial management skills as they compete in teams to build & manage their own cooperative business at the 2022 Cooperative Enterprise Teen Leadership Conference. The conference will take place at the Wesley Center in Woodworth, LA from Thursday, March 24 - Saturday, March 26. This event is generously sponsored by the Louisiana Council of Farmer Cooperatives.

The cost for the conference is $50. Checks should be made payable to LCFC. The deadline to register is Friday, February 25! To register: 1. A demonstration should consist of introduction, procedure, & summary. Don’t forget your visual aid. Most importantly, practice your demonstration! 4-H’ers may pre-record their demonstrations & email to email@example.com by March 31. Videos should be no more than 5 minutes in length. Open to all 4-H Members age 14 years & older, Junior Leadership Conference will be held March 10-11, 2022 & repeated on March 11-12, 2022. Both camps will be held at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA. Participants may choose which camp they would like to attend.
Theme: This year’s theme is “Back to Leadership”. The session choices are: It’s About Time; Today’s Voices, Tomorrow’s Futures; Returning to Responsibility; & Talking to the Past.
Registration Form: The registration form will be available on our Facebook Page, Ouachita 4-H, where participants will be able to view details, indicate which camp they would like to attend & rank their session choices. Drop off/Pick up information, etc., will be provided upon registration.

Take a break from the hustle & bustle of life & embark on an expedition into your own mind to discover the mysteries that await in the jungle of emotions. Journey through the valleys & mountains of feelings – the highs of joy, the lows of sadness, the raging rivers of anger, & much more. You will experience it all in the Louisiana 4-H Mental Health Retreat sponsored by the State Citizenship Board. Promote the dairy industry by drawing a billboard encouraging or promoting the consumption of milk and/or milk products & their importance for health.
Posters are due to the Ouachita 4-H office by April 11. Ribbon awards will be given on the Parish Level. First Place Parish winning poster will move to the State Level. Winning posters at the State Level will receive cash prizes! Winning posters become the property of the Extension Service & will be displayed at statewide events.

The Northeast Louisiana Master Gardener Association is pleased to announce the 2022 Steven L. Hotard Scholarship for Excellence. The Association will again award a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving graduating senior who has been accepted into an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school & who is pursuing a degree in any of the applied or natural sciences. The student must be currently active in 4-H. Selection of the recipient will be based on 4-H project work, community service, demonstrated leadership, & academic achievement.
