“4-H Lights, Camera, Fashion” is the theme of 4-H Fashion Camp scheduled for January 21-23, 2022 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA. Ouachita will be able to send two campers (10-13 Years old) & one adult leader (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.). An adult volunteer leader is required.

The Jr. Leader/HYPE meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 11 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. We will meet at Charles Johnson Park, 3313 Bernstein Park Drive in Monroe, across the street from the zoo. In the event of bad weather, we will meet at the 4-H office.
4-H Outdoor Photography Camp for 7th & 8th grades will be an overnight weekday camp held December 6-7 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA. This program will feature an introductory smartphone photography course in which participants will explore natural/outdoor photography around the grounds of Camp Grant Walker. Campers will learn about basic & intermediate photography principles, as well as tips on basic editing features using apps included or freely available on a typical smartphone. Also featuring an interactive nature walk by LSU AgCenter Forestry Agent, Mr. Keith Hawkins, this program is open to all photographers looking to learn new skills or build on existing knowledge!
LA 4-H Shooting Sports Camp for 4-Hers ages 9-13 will be held December 10-12, 2021 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA. Registration deadline is November 11, 2021.
Participants will choose one of the following: Archery, Shotgun, .22 Rifle or Air Rifle/Air Pistol/BB (Combined).Parents & coaches are welcome to attend but it is not mandatory. The cost will be $100 per youth/per parent/per coach which will cover registration, lodging, meals & t-shirt. Checks should be made out to LSU AgCenter. All youth will be required to bring their own bow/firearm & arrows/ammo.
Note: LSU AgCenter policy requires all adults attending an overnight event with youth have to complete our overnight chaperone training & screening process (instructions included in registration).

Mark your calendars!! The Ouachita 4-H Cookery Contest is scheduled for Monday, January 10, 2022 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the 4-H auditorium. 4-H’ers should drop off their dishes between 5:00-6:00 p.m. & arrive back at 7:00 p.m. for the awards presentation. 4-H’ers with winning dishes will compete in the Area Cookery in Rayville in February. They will compete against 4-H’ers in 12 other parishes! Please pre-register by contacting the 4-H office via phone (318-323-2251) or email (ouachita@agcenter.lsu.edu) stating contestant’s name & dish category. 4-H members aged 9 to 19 are eligible to compete. The Shooting Sports Enrollment Deadline for 2021-2022 is November 30, 2021. If you are 9 years or older & like shooting guns or bows, then our Shooting Sports Club is for you! Ouachita 4-H offers Archery, Rifle, & Shotgun. Cost to join: $15 per child. The max amount per family is $25.(In addition to 4-H annual dues which will be $5). Youth may not attend practice or participate in any Shooting Sports event unless they are completely enrolled. If you have questions, please contact our office at 323-2251.
