On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, community leaders, volunteers, elected officials and teachers gathered at the Scott Center in Winnsboro to learn about “Play Streets” with the LSU AgCenter Northeast Region Nutrition Team. Play Streets is a “pop-up” play space that includes a variety of play equipment that is mobile and versatile. Play Streets is being used by the LSU AgCenter in several parishes in Louisiana to promote increased physical activity and community cohesion. Participants had the opportunity to “play” and learn about how to implement this fun and interactive concept into their respective communities. They brought home the necessary tools and skills to help implement Play Streets in their communities, funding ideas, and events, along with enthusiasm to host their own! For more information on Play Streets or other LSU AgCenter Healthy Communities projects, please contact your local extension office.
