“4-H Lights, Camera, Fashion” is the theme of 4-H Fashion Camp scheduled for January 21-23, 2022 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA. Ouachita will be able to send two campers (10-13 Years old) & one adult leader (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.). An adult volunteer leader is required.
Forms & payments are due to the Ouachita 4-H Office by Monday, November 15. Contact Tara Garlington at (318) 323-2251 if interested in attending.

Help Louisiana 4-H Celebrate 100 years at Camp Grant Walker! Entry Deadline: Friday, October 29, 2021. Submissions must also include: Full name & age of person submitting the slogan, Parish/4-H Club, Complete mailing address, & Telephone number. Mail all entries to: Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, 3000 Hwy. 8, Pollock, LA 71467.
Send your most creative idea for a theme in 5 words or less. Illustrations of your theme must accompany the phrase & will be part of the contest. The contest is open to all Louisiana 4-H youth. The winning theme will be selected based on its ability to be “catchy” & captures the spirit of camping at Camp Grant Walker for 100 years. The theme will be used on all publicity for camp, including the 2022 camp t-shirt. The winner will be awarded a monetary award!
Individuals may submit multiple entries & send together. Winners will be selected by a committee of agents & camp staff. The winner will be notified after selection in order for an official artist release so the winning entry can be used on summer camp promotional materials & t-shirts.
The 2021-2022 Programming Focus is “Choose Health.” Educational information & activities will be provided on Food, Fun, & Fitness!
Congratulations to Lexi Harper who placed First in the 2021 State Records Contest in the 6th Grade Category! Lexi won a monetary award of $50.

The Fall 2021 Tractor Supply Paper Clover Fundraiser will be held October 6-17. Since 2010, Tractor Supply has partnered with 4-H to help create Opportunity4All & raise more than $14 million through the Paper Clover campaign. The success of these campaigns has impacted over 81,500 youth by providing them with the tools & resources they need to move forward & reach their full potential. One hundred percent of funds raised through the bi-annual Paper Clover campaign directly benefits 4-H youth. Ninety percent of donations directly support 4-H youth in the state where the funds were raised, & the remaining 10 percent supports the overall mission & growth of 4-H nationally. Stop by our local Tractor Supply at 201 Mane Street in West Monroe to donate & show your support!
The monthly “Choose Health” lesson, newsletter, flyers etc. will be available on Google Classroom within the first week of each month through April.

This camp for 7th & 8th graders will be held November 12-13 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA. The program will focus on topics including healthy living, fitness, youth mental health, & nutrition. Participating youth will form teams & compete in an Olympic-themed assortment of fun & active lessons & recreational activities. Save the date! We will have a Movie Day at Tinseltown in West Monroe the morning of Wednesday, November 24. It is open to all 4-H’ers. Parents & siblings of 4-H’ers may attend. Cost & other details will be available soon on Facebook & in our November newsletter.
The monthly 4-H Newsletter needs a new name for the 2021-22 school year. Turn in your ideas for a newsletter name to your 4-H Leader by Friday, October 15. The winner will receive $20.00.Limit one entry per 4-H’er. Limit your newsletter name to 5 words or less. Put your name & school on your entries. Last year, our newsletter was named “The Clover Chat”.
The Photography Club will meet Monday, October 18 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo, 1405 Bernstein Park, Monroe. We will meet at the main entrance! Please email email@example.com by Oct. 14 if you plan to attend.

If you are 9 years or older & like shooting guns or bows, then our Shooting Sports Club is for you! Ouachita 4-H offers Archery, Rifle, & Shotgun. Cost to join: $15 per child. The max amount per family is $25.(In addition to 4-H annual dues which will be $5). The Shooting Sports Enrollment Deadline for 2021-2022 is November 30, 2021. However, youth may not attend practice or participate in any Shooting Sports event unless they are completely enrolled. If you have questions, please contact our office at 323-2251.

Do you want to join 4-H?Four-H is a club for boys & girls ages 9 to 19. Any youth from the age of 9 years of age (before January 1st of the current 4-H year) can be a member. Youth can participate as long as they have not passed their 20th birthday on January 1. By joining you can participate in workshops, contests & 4-H Camp. If a 4-H club is available at your school, follow the school’s enrollment guidelines. If there isn’t a club at your school, you may still join 4-H as a Member-At-Large & participate in all 4-H activities. Just call the 4-H office for details!!
Many 4-H club meetings will continue to be conducted a bit differently this year. While some clubs will continue meeting in person, following social distancing guidelines, others will utilize virtual club meeting avenues. Events may be postponed, transitioned into a virtual format, or cancelled as health needs change. We are committed to assist in keeping our 4-H family healthy, while maintaining as much normalcy as possible in our programming. We are looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year!
