(05/24/19) CROWLEY, La. — The LSU AgCenter has scheduled a series of meetings for AgCenter experts to inform rice farmers about the latest research findings.
“These meetings are a good opportunity for farmers to learn from our studies what they can do to make their operations more efficient,” said Don Groth, resident coordinator of the AgCenter H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station.
Presentations will include controlling insect pests, weeds and diseases, Groth said. Fertilizer recommendations and an economic outlook will be included in the presentations.
The first meeting, the southwest Louisiana rice field day, will be held May 28 at 8:30 a.m. south of Iowa at the Powell Farm Partners farm, located at the corner of McCown and David roads. The Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce will provide a farmer appreciation breakfast starting at 8 a.m.
Other field days will be held as follows:
A St. Landry Parish rice field day will be held in July on a date and location yet to be determined.
