(05/09/19) ALEXANDRIA, La. — The LSU AgCenter will host the second annual agricultural field day expo June 27 at the Dean Lee Research and Extension Center in Alexandria.
“This field day event is a great opportunity to combine our traditional crop and pest management programs and updates with enhanced educational outreach in areas of cattle production, horticulture, nutrition and healthy living and 4-H youth development to meet a diverse clientele need,” said AgCenter regional director Tara Smith.
The field day and industry expo model has been developed to showcase sectors of agricultural with featured field tours, seminars, workshops and other activities that highlight ongoing educational initiatives at the station and in the region, Smith said.
Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. with field tours and breakout sessions starting at 3. The expo opens at 5 followed by a sponsored meal at 6.
The public is invited to participate in the agricultural expo that will feature agricultural technologies, products and equipment options as well as signature AgCenter programs.

Youth participants can visit the 4-H mini farm and take part in hands-on science, outdoor skills and forestry and wildlife activities or learn how to make a healthy snack with the 4-H Chef Club.
Prospective college students can visit with LSU College of Agriculture recruiters to learn more about career opportunities in agricultural.
A training for AgCenter agents and other professionals from state agencies, federal organizations and industry will be held in the morning from 10 a.m. until noon.
The expo event is set to move each year among AgCenter research stations in the Northeast and Central regions. Smaller, more-focused educational programs will be scheduled at AgCenter research stations in the region throughout the year, Smith said.
