LSU AgCenter presents AgMagic this spring in Baton Rouge, New Orleans area

(03/18/19) BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU AgCenter will present two editions of AgMagic, an interactive exhibit about Louisiana agriculture, this spring.

The first is scheduled for April 8 to 14 in the Parker Coliseum on the LSU Baton Rouge campus. AgMagic on the River will be held in the New Orleans area May 7 to 11 at the Docville Farm in Violet.

At both locations, the exhibit will be open only to registered school groups on weekdays. The public may attend on the weekend. Admission is free.

Visitors to AgMagic will be guided through several portals, each focusing on a different aspect of agriculture. Fun activities will offer lessons about crops grown on Louisiana farms, forestry, aquaculture, insects, animals, nutrition and 4-H.

Farm animals such as cattle, goats, sheep, pigs and baby chicks will be on display.

“AgMagic provides a hands-on experience for children and adults to learn that agriculture produces the food they eat, clothing and housing,” said Bill Richardson, LSU vice president for agriculture and dean of the College of Agriculture.

Teachers can find information on signing up their classes for tours at either location by visiting www.eventbrite.com and searching for “AgMagic.”
