(02/07/19) ALEXANDRIA, La. — Gardening tips, plant selections and a host of educational sessions will be featured at the Central Region Spring Garden Seminar and Expo set for March 8 at the Louisiana State Evacuation Shelter south of LSUA near Alexandria.
“With the spring gardening season just around the corner, this event expands our horticultural footprint in the region as we continue to strive to meet the needs of our gardening and horticulture enthusiasts,” said LSU AgCenter regional director Tara Smith.
“This is an ideal time for the public to take part in educational sessions and meet with LSU AgCenter specialists as preparations for the spring garden season begin,” said AgCenter Master Gardener coordinator Sara Shields.
The event opens with registration at 8:30 a.m. followed by presentations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sessions will include raised bed construction, soil selection, emerging landscape diseases, combating landscape weeds, basic design and maintenance of drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, and hazard tree identification in landscape settings.
Visitors can meet with exhibitors about seasonal gardening topics, network with garden club and plant society members, and view garden products, services and accessories on display from a variety of participating vendors.
