Textiles and Apparel associate professor receives mid-career award

(06/04/18) BATON ROUGE, La. — Chuanlan Liu, associate professor in the LSU College of Agriculture Department of Textiles, Apparel Design and Merchandising, is the recipient of the International Textile and Apparel Association Mid-Career Excellence Award.

The award recognizes outstanding faculty who have made significant contributions to education, scholarship and innovation in textiles and apparel design.

Liu’s research focuses on consumer experiences and well-being, slow fashion, mass customization, sustainability, co-branding and ingredient branding, and entrepreneurship in fashion. Her research has been recognized national and internationally with more than 70 refereed journal articles.

ITAA also has recognized Liu as the major professor of best thesis and dissertation at its international conferences.

“My passion as a scholar is to make sense of what we are teaching and researching in the incredibly interdisciplinary field of textiles and apparel and generate not only academic knowledge but also practical wisdom for consumers, businesses and society,” Liu said.

Liu will receive the award at ITAA conference in Cleveland, Ohio scheduled for November 6-8.
