AgCenter Garden Fest set for June 16 at Botanic Gardens at Burden

(05/24/18) BATON ROUGE, La. — Visitors will have the opportunity to sample fruits and vegetables straight from the garden along with fresh omelets at the annual Garden Fest on June 16 at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden in Baton Rouge.

From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors will be able to take a hayride to the Botanic Gardens research area to taste new vegetable varieties and learn about the latest in vegetables and ornamental plants, said Botanic Gardens resident director Jeff Kuehny.

Other garden tours will include the All-America Selections Garden, the Rose Garden, the Herb Garden the Children’s Garden and the new Pollinator Garden.

Along with the omelets, visitors can sample bloody marys from Mason’s Grill and attend cooking demonstrations. Local horticulture societies will be on hand to talk about their plants.

Children’s activities will include water slides (bring your swimsuits), the opportunity to explore farm tractors, a farm animal petting zoo and a visit from Trixie the Clown.

Admission to the event is $5 per person. Children 3 and under will be admitted at no charge. The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden is located at 4560 Essen Lane at Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge.
