(06/16/17) BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU AgCenter will participate in health fairs at Rouses Markets in Louisiana in the coming months.
The first will be on June 24 at the Rouses on Drusilla Lane in Baton Rouge, said AgCenter nutritionist Sandra May.
May and East Baton Rouge Parish nutrition agent Eva Davis will present information and demonstrations on eating healthfully based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture MyPlate nutrition guidelines, May said. They will present a food demonstration featuring a Louisiana commodity.
“We have a wealth of information on healthful eating,” she said.
Rouses health fairs feature 10 to 14 vendors who offer samples of their products throughout the store, said Rouses dietitian Esther Ellis.
“The products are a great way to get our customers to expand their taste buds and try something they might be skeptical of buying,” Ellis said.
The AgCenter will participate in future Rouses health fairs in July in Houma and November in Lafayette, May said.
