(03/27/17) WINNSBORO, La. – The LSU AgCenter will hold a wheat and oat field day on April 19 at the Macon Ridge Research Station located south of Winnsboro.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The field day will include both indoor presentations and field tours of wheat and oat plots located at the station. The indoor program will begin at 9 a.m., and field tours will begin at approximately 10 a.m.
A sponsored lunch will be provided after the field tours.
Topics scheduled to be covered include insect management in wheat, crop production and soil health under cover crops, wheat and oat variety trials, a wheat disease in production update, a fusarium head blight variety and fungicide screening, prescribed burn program and recertification update, Italian ryegrass control in wheat and control issues with clethodim.
The field day will meet both Phase 2 and continuing education credits in the Louisiana Master Farmer Program.
