(01/26/17) BATON ROUGE, La. – Cocktails and cuisine made with the local flavors of Louisiana will be featured during the fourth annual Gourmet in the Garden at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden from 6 to 9 p.m. on April 20.
Presented by the Louisiana Culinary Institute Foundation and the Burden Horticulture Society, the event brings Gourmet in the Garden together with Cocktails in the Garden for a single evening of enjoyment, said Jeff Kuehny, director of the Botanic Gardens.
The evening will include food tastings along with samplings of beverages from Louisiana distilleries and local mixologists and culminate with presentations of the People’s Choice and Juried Cocktail awards.
“Guests will enjoy creations from local restaurants prepared with locally grown products in a lush green setting with music and blooms of the Rose Garden and Orangerie Garden,” Kuehny said.
“This is a unique event in which both local chefs and mixologists provide the best of what they have to offer, often pairing the cocktail and the food so that they enhance each other on your palate,” Kuehny said.
The event is sponsored in part by Republic National Distributing Company. Proceeds benefit educational programs at the Botanic Gardens at Burden and the Louisiana Culinary Institute Foundation.
Tickets include samplings of food and cocktails along with live music. The cost is $50 per person before Feb. 15, $60 per person between Feb. 16 and March 31 and $65 thereafter. Tickets are available after Feb. 1 online at www.gig2017.eventbrite.com. If space is available, tickets will be available at the door for $70.
