Burden art exhibition announces call for 2017 entries

(09/29/16) BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden has announced the call for entries for the seventh annual Brush with Burden art exhibition.

A juried multimedia exhibition, Brush with Burden features all types of art inspired by Louisiana’s natural beauty, said Jeff Kuehny, resident director at the Botanic Gardens.

The theme for the 2017 competition is Southern Sights, and entries will include paintings, 3-D work and photographs.

This show is open to all U.S. residents 17 years of age and older and to all art media except video and film, Kuehny said. Works must be original, must have been produced in the past three years and must not have been entered in previous Brush with Burden competitions.

All artwork must be priced and available for sale.

The entry deadline is Jan. 20, 2017. Submissions will be on exhibit March 12-19, 2017, in the Ione Burden Conference Center and Steele Burden Memorial Orangerie in the Botanic Gardens. All winning works also will be displayed during April 2017 at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge.
