Mold control, remediation training set for May 18-20 at LaHouse

(04/26/16) BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU AgCenter LaHouse Resource Center will hold a mold control and remediation training course May 18-20 from 8:30 a m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.

The course fulfills the initial 24-hour education requirement for a Mold Remediation Contractor License in Louisiana, but it is also relevant to other professions, said AgCenter extension housing specialist Claudette Reichel.

The class is designed to provide technicians, contractors, consultants, designers and building managers with information and methods needed to successfully perform safe and effective mold remediation and meet industry standards.

“Our course includes not only industry protocols and methods training, but also provides participants with key building science, mold and moisture insights needed to diagnose problems and achieve long-term control, which is what the client really needs and wants most,” Reichel said. “We developed this training as part of our healthy homes and buildings extension program.”

The course qualifies for Louisiana Incumbent Worker Training Program tuition reimbursement for eligible employers and 24 CEUs for Louisiana residential contractors. All participants will receive a detailed manual and a USB drive with a variety of supplemental resources and educational materials.

The class will take place at LaHouse on the LSU campus across from the Alex Box Baseball Stadium. Parking is on-site and free.

More information about the course and registration is available at www.regonline.com/mold-LaHouse.
