(03/18/16) BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU AgCenter will offer four safety training programs in May and June to help food processors learn more about industry regulations and how to minimize contamination risks.
Faculty from the AgCenter School of Nutrition and Food Sciences will teach the workshops, which will focus on keeping foods safe using the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. Many food processors are required by law to have HACCP plans.
Attendees will hear from experts about developing and following safety plans for specific types of operations.
Workshop topics, dates and fees are as follows:
— Reduced Oxygen Packaging HACCP, May 2, $225
— Sanitation Control Procedures for Fish and Fishery Products, May 9, $175
— Basic Seafood HACCP, May 10 to 12, $300
— Meat and Poultry HACCP, May 31 to June 2, $325
Registration includes all course materials, certificates and lunches. All of the workshops will be held on the LSU campus in Efferson Hall.
