4-H Color Fun Run/Walk

The 4-H Color Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Ag Arena (behind the Yambilee Building) in Opelousas. Check-in will be held from 8:00 - 8:45 A.M. and the run/walk will begin at 9:00 A.M. No same day registration. Obtain event registration form below. Early registration is due by Monday, April 4, 2022 to the 4-H Office. Registration is open to 4-H'ers and 2 family members. The course will cover 2 miles and be an untimed event.
Registration Fees:
- $10.00 fee - includes individual color powder packet (wear your own white t-shirt)
- $20.00 fee - included individual color powder packet and 4-H Color Run / Walk T-shirt
Late Registration Fee: After April 4, 2022 - No same day registration
- $15.00 - includes individual color powder packet and wear your own white-T-shirt
4-H Leaders
Please turn in your club's point sheets and treasurer's reports by April 25, 2022, at the Extension Office. You should have received a copy of the forms earlier in the school year in the 4-H Leader Handbook.
Point sheets are used to determine which clubs will receive "Superior" or "Outstanding" club awards for the 2021-2022 club year. Trophies will be awarded to clubs in May.
4-H Spring Contest Day
The 4-H Spring Contest Day will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the Extension Office. Check-In: 4:00 - 4:30 P.M. Contest Judging Begins: 4:30 P.M. Awards: At conclusion of contest judging
Contests
- Demonstration Contest - (1 or 2) 4-H'ers demonstrating anything that follows a step-by-step process and has an end product, 15 minutes or less.
- Public Speaking Contest - Individual 4-H'er giving a speech on any topic relating to 4-H or community service, 5 minutes or less.
- Job Interview Contest - Individual 4-H'er interviewing for a job they can currently do at their age. Obtain resume below. 4-H'er must dress in appropriate interview attire and must answer the following questions during the interview:
- Tell me about yourself.
- What job are you applying for and why?
- What would you consider to be your greatest strength and why?
- What would you consider to be your greatest weakness and why?
- What experiences/skills do you have that would prepare you for this job?
- How will you manage your school-work and other activities along with this job?
- Why should you deserve to get this job over someone else?
4-H'ers must register for which contests they want to participate in through their 4-H Club Leader or by calling the 4-H Extension Office at 337-948-0561. Registration is due by Friday, April 1, 2022.
4-H University
4-H University will be held June 21 - 24, 2022, at LSU-Baton Rouge. Participants (whether in contests or clover college) must be in 8th-12th grade for the 2021 - 2022 year. 4-H University applications are due to the Extension Office by April 1, 2022. Approximate cost will be $160.00 to attend.
The first meeting for 2022 State 4-H University participants will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. at the Extension Office.

Junior Leader Meeting
The April meeting will Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the Extension Office.
Paper Clover Sales at Tractor Supply
Please help support your parish 4-H program! Visit your local Tractor Supply Store April 27, 2022 through May 8, 2022 and donate $1.00 at check out. Money raised during the paper clover sales helps support 4-H youth programs throughout the year.

Reminder
This is the last regularly scheduled 4-H meeting at your school this year. We still have more fun activities: 4-H Summer Camp, 4-H Horse Shows, and 4-H University. 4-H doesn't end now. It stays busy, and you can too! Be sure to join 4-H next year at the September club meeting at your school.
Tri-Parish 4-H Horse Show
The Tri-Parish 4-H Horse Show (St. Landry, Evangeline, & Avoyelles Parishes) will take place Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Ag Arena in Opelousas. The show will feature both timed and performance events.
4-H'ers will have an opportunity to participate in the Premier Exhibitor Contest. This contest is designed to place emphasis and recognition on the exhibitor's knowledge and skills in the 4-H Horse Project. The contest consists of a written test score, skill-a-thon score, and performance event score.
In order to participate in the Tri-Parish 4-H Horse Show, exhibitors had to have met the horse possession deadline of April 1, 2022. Interested 4-H'ers should contact Megan Plattsmier at 337-948-0561 or visit Horse Program (lsuagcenter.com) for more information.
