This event will be held Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Yambilee Building in Opelousas.

Talent Contest: 5:00-7:00 P.M.
Individual or team, 5 minutes or less, must bring own equipment and music. Categories: Musical Instrument, Vocal Music, Dance, Other. The top acts in each category will perform Saturday, March 23rd in the talent show.

Assembly/Parade of Banners: 9:00-9:30 A.M.
Contests: 9:30-11:00 A.M.

Contests:
- Parade of 4-H Club Banners – Each club can make a banner to carry during the opening assembly.
- Demonstration Contest – Team of 1 or 2 individuals on any subject or topic, 15 minutes or less.
- 4-H Club Community Service Project Presentation – Team of 2-3 club members give an oral presentation, with project display board, featuring a service project their 4-H club conducted this year.
- Project Area Contest – Take a written quiz/test. Project Areas: Discovering 4-H (4th-6th Grade Only), Horticulture, Child Development, Ready to Wear (Clothing).
- Exhibits – Individual, can enter 1 exhibit in each category. Label exhibits with name, grade, and school. Categories: Club Reporter Scrapbook, Recycled Art, LA Ag Commodity Informational Poster (Sweet Potato, Rice, Beef, Dairy, Crawfish, Soybean, etc.)
Achievement Day pre-registration due March 1, 2024, for Demonstration, Talent, and 4-H Club Community Service Project. No same day registrations.

4-H Horse Shows
The 4-H Horse Shows will be rapidly approaching, and now is the time to begin preparing for the Parish, District and State Horse Shows. Exhibitors must have possession of their horses prior to April 1, 2024.
All registered horses must be officially registered in the name of the 4-H club member or an immediate family member on or before April 1, 2024. To show a grade horse (non-registered horse), the 4-H’er must submit a certificate of ownership to the St. Landry 4-H Office by April 1, 2024. Grade horse certificates can be obtained from the 4-H Office.
Complete the horse and livestock exhibitor online form by March 1, 2024, if you are planning to exhibit horses or livestock this year in 4-H. Animals are not provided by 4-H. Families must purchase the animal(s) for 4-H’ers to show. Interested 4-H’ers should contact Megan Plattsmier at 337-948-0561 for more information.
Horse Exhibitor Form
4-H Penny Drive
4-H Clubs that wish to participate in a penny drive for St. Landry 4-H Foundation can begin collecting pennies and/or other coins. Clubs can turn in what’s been collected by the due date of Monday, April 1, 2024. Please have them rolled in coin wrappers or submit a check for the amount collected made payable to St. Landry 4-H Foundation. Trophies will be presented to the club(s) raising the most money. Each club participating will receive a certificate.
4-H Record Book Time
Four-H Record Books are due at your March 4-H meeting or the Extension Office, Friday, March 8, 2024.
4th, 5th, & 6th Grades: 4-H members are to turn in their project books. If you have more than one project, put your books in a binder that will keep them together. Put your name, grade and school on the outside cover of your project book. Be sure to complete as many pages as you can. The story page is most important.
7th-12th: Submit 4-H Portfolio plus project books in a binder. Turn in your best effort.
4-H Summer Camp
Do you want to swim, canoe, shoot archery, dance and hang out with friends this summer? Then you need to attend 4-H Summer Camp! You must be in Grades 4th-6th.
St Landry Parish will attend camp June 3 - 6, 2024. The fee is $245.00. A $50.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT (included in the fee) is due on March 18, 2024, along with your camp application.
4-H University
4-H University will be held June 18-21, 2024 at LSU-Baton Rouge. Participants (whether in contest or clover college) must be in 8th-12th grades for the 2023-2024 year. 4-H University applications are due to the Extension Office by April 1, 2024. Approximate cost will be $200.00 to attend.
The first meeting for 2024 State 4-H University participants will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at the Extension Office.
Junior Leader Meeting
The February meeting will be Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Extension Office.
Senior 4-H Scholarships
Scott Truck and Tractor Company is sponsoring one (1) $500.00 scholarship to one deserving senior 4-H member in St. Landry Parish. The recipient does not have to live on a farm. Applications and letter of recommendation from a school advisor must be submitted to the St. Landry Parish Extension Office by February 19, 2024 by those interested. An application can be obtained from a 4-H Agent.
