LSU AgCenter Will Hold Agritourism Education Meeting

The LSU AgCenter will hold an Agritourism Education Meeting for people involved or interested in agritourism from 9:00 AM (with registration beginning at 8:30 AM) till 2:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station (21549 Old Covington Hwy., Hammond).

LSU AgCenter Southeast Region Agritourism Coordinator Jessie Hoover will discuss how to get your agricultural enterprise recognized as a certified agritourism operation and have it listed in Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry's Certified Agritourism Operations Directory. Dr. Maria Bampasidou of the LSU Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness will address financial considerations related to agritourism. LSU AgCenter Extension Agent Dr. Mary Helen Ferguson will present on additional options for listing your farm online. Randall Whitehead with Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies will address insurance considerations for agritourism operations. A panel of current agritourism operators will discuss their experiences and answer questions.

Lunch, sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance of Tangipahoa Parish, will be provided to those who pre-register. To RSVP, please contact Jessie Hoover by Monday, February 19, 2024.
