LSU AgCenter Will Hold 2023 Watermelon Education Meeting

(News release for January 10, 2023)

The LSU AgCenter will hold a meeting for current and prospective watermelon growers from 6:00 to 8:20 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at the LSU AgCenter’s Washington Parish office (1104-B Bene St., Franklinton). Dr. Ashley Long of the LSU AgCenter and School of Renewable Natural Resources will discuss how to minimize crop damage from wildlife such as deer, coyotes, and feral hogs. Dr. Mary Helen Ferguson of the LSU AgCenter will address weed, disease, and insect management. Mr. Perry Talley will provide information about the Watermelon, Fruit, and Vegetable Association and its plans to bring back the Washington Parish Watermelon Festival.
