My name is Bryce Trahan. I am from Forked Island, Louisiana, and I was selected as the 2025 Charles and Rose Broussard Internship Recipient. I will be attending McNeese State University in the Fall of 2025, where I will major in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Ag Business.

Growing up on a farm sparked my love for agriculture. I have been heavily involved in agriculture since I was a child. I live and work on a crawfish and cattle farm in Forked Island, where we raise Brangus and Brangus-based cattle and manage 200 acres of crawfish ponds. In addition to working on our family farm, I also work for a local farmer cutting rice in the summer. I have been on a tractor since I was tall enough to reach the pedals. Spending so much time on a tractor has allowed me to find flaws in the equipment. I have always enjoyed taking equipment apart and coming up with ways to make it better, which is why I want to pursue a career as an Agricultural Engineer.

I attend Kaplan High School and am an active member of our FFA and 4-H clubs, as well as a member of the baseball and basketball teams. I currently serve as our FFA Chapter’s Vice-President and High School 4-H President. I have been heavily involved in 4-H; from completing project books to showing cattle, I did it all. My agricultural knowledge allowed me to win state with my aquaculture project book, my favorite 4-H activity, and state rice ambassador. My FFA experience included some successes as well, including placing 4th at AREA III LDEs in employment skills and earning my FFA State Degree.

I hope that this opportunity will give me more insight into the agriculture industry and allow me to experience other sides of it that I am not as familiar with. Once again, thank you to the Charles and Rose Broussard Family for giving me this opportunity, which will hopefully enhance my future career as an agricultural engineer.
