Some travel to field sites may be involved, depending on student interests. Possible projects include quantifying the emission of volatiles from rice panicles, behavioral studies involving the rice stink bug, investigation of the impact of secondary metabolites on fall armyworms, and studying the induction of ipomeamarone and other chemicals in sweet potato roots. Students will participate in projects related to plant-insect interactions or integrated pest management in rice. Graduate students will serve as the primary mentors.
