Caddo Parish 2022 Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program Report

During the 2022 year, EFNEP enrolled participants throughout Caddo Parish. One professional and two paraprofessionals taught EFNEP classes at a variety of locations. Our target audience includes limited-resource individuals. Participants included youth grades Kindergarten through 12th grade and adults who are raising youth. Participants completed enrollment and exit surveys which included questions to assess nutrition knowledge and behavior changes.

  • 4 adult education and training sites
  • 1 place of worship
  • 1 community center
  • 1 library
  • 4 schools
  • 1 other youth education site

Caddo Parish EFNEP Reach:

  • 871 residents participated in EFNEP educational series
  • 141 adults enrolled in nutrition education series
  • 730 youth enrolled in nutrition education series
  • 516 total family participants
  • 93% of EFNEP adult participants reported income at or below 185% of poverty level

2022 Caddo Parish EFNEP Results:

Adult Outreach:

  • 85% improved food resource management practices
  • 83% improved diet quality
  • 68% improved physical activity behaviors
  • 72% improved food safety practices
  • 37% improved food security

Youth Outreach:

  • 87% improved ability to choose foods according to the dietary guildelines
  • 6% acquired skills to be food secure
  • 66% improved physical activity practices
  • 62% improved food safety practices
  • 56% improved ability to prepare simple, nutritious affordable food
