Training courses are offered annually to factory staff

The courses “The Introduction to Raw Sugar Manufacture” and "Introduction to Sugar Boiling" are offered annually at Audubon Sugar Institute.

During “The Introduction to Raw Sugar Manufacture” course, you can expect the following:

  • Learn about cane payment systems and the sugar production process from cane harvesting to sugar handling. Sugar refining is also included.
  • Get an understanding of mass balances across sugar factories, and sucrose losses
  • Comprehend the environmental issues related to sugar production
  • Learn about utilities (water, steam, and energy)
  • Understand general factors that affect sugar production cost

During the "Introduction to Sugar Boiling" course, you can count on the following:

  • An overview of sugar boiling
  • Effects of steam, vacuum, and purity on sugar boiling
  • Hands-on boiling using ASI's pilot-scalepan

The last course was offered to7 people from 3 sugar factories (Lafourche, Raceland, and Cajun) on August 29, 2022.
