Do you have a graduating senior who needs to learn how to use small appliances before heading out to college/school or moving out on their own? Are they ready to take on life’s challenges including feeding themselves? Learning to cook is an important life skill. And preparing a balanced meal is key to maintaining both physical health and mental health. Layne Langley, Area Nutrition with the LSU AgCenter will conduct What’s Cooking? Class of 2022 for graduating seniors from West and East Feliciana Parishes.

The workshop will provide tips on using common small appliances to prepare healthy foods with little effort. Participants will also prepare recipes using the appliances and sample recipes made. The goal of the workshop is to teach high school seniors that it is healthier, cheaper, and easier if they know how to cook at home or in a dorm room.

The What’s Cooking? Class of 2022 will be held May 5 at the West Feliciana LSU AgCenter Office located within the West Feliciana Sports Park located at 10032 West Feliciana Parkway, St. Francisville, LA. from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The cost of the workshop is $15. Those interested can register and pay for the workshop using the online store at the following link: What's Cooking Senior Class of 2022?

Feel free to contact the West Feliciana AgCenter Office at 225-635-3614 to have the registration link emailed. Deadline to register is April 20. Eight participants need to be registered for the workshop to be conducted.
