4-H Pet Show

March 26, 2022

This contest will be held at the Farmerville Tractor Supply parking lot. Registration will be 9:30 a.m. The contest will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Rules and Regulations

1. Give a short speech about you and your pet which includes the following:

  • your name, age, grade, and school
  • your pet’s name and how you chose this name
  • where did you get your pet and how long have you had it?
  • care required for your pet (food, housing, health, etc.)
  • what your pet can do
  • a funny or interesting story about your pet

2. All animals must be in cages or on a leash.

3. No Snakes!

3. 4-H’ers can enter one category, two categories or all three categories, but they cannot enter 2 animals in the same category.

Categories

  1. Best Dressed
  2. Best Groomed
  3. Best Trick
  4. Cutest
  5. Most unusual
  6. Small animals (turtles, birds, gerbils, lizards, cats, rabbits, etc.)
  7. Large animals (sheep, goats, horses, cows, etc.)

Awards

First, second and third place winners will Prizes.

Community Service Activity

We will be collecting dog food, treats and supplies to donate to a local animal shelter. If you would like to participate, please bring your donation of canned dog food, bleach, blue Dawn dish washing liquid, old blankets or towels, tarps, zip ties, Milk Bone dog treats, braided rope, tennis balls or chew toys to the Pet Show. Do not bring rawhide chews or dry dog food.

4-H Outdoor Grilling Workshop!

April 16, 2022. Come join us for the next grilling workshop with a local Grill Master on how to grill, grilling safety tips, and food safety! It will be open for all 4-H’ers in grades 4th-12th . Seating is limited so call and reserve your spot! Social distancing will be practiced, and masks must be worn. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 318-368-9935.

4-H Summer Camp!

A Million Memories! Summer Camp is celebrating 100 years of camp at Camp Grant Walker! 4-H Camp is open to all 4-Her’s in grades 4th-6th . Camp Dates will be July 4-7. Campers will get to swim, canoe, play softball, volleyball, ping pong, and dancing. There will be a $50 nonrefundable deposit due by April 15th. Total camp fee will be $200 due by May 27.

4-H University

This year’s theme is: STRIVE. 4-HU will be held June 21-24, 2022, at the LSU Campus in Baton Rouge! A few of the contests will be held virtually. What is 4-H University? Each year 4-H members who are in the 8th-12th grade as of August 1, 2021, are eligible to participate in 4-H University to demonstrate their skills in more than 40 competitive events. It is a culmination of a 4-H member’s year of hard work and dedication. Each competitive event allows youth an opportunity for personal growth, skill mastery, & other life skills.

Louisiana Draw A Dairy Billboard Poster Contest

Promote the dairy industry by drawing a billboard encouraging or promoting the consumption of milk and/or milk products & their importance for health.

  • Posters must be on 22”x28” poster board & must not contain any copyright materials.
  • Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than 1/2” thick.
  • A 4-H club member can win first place in each division only once.
  • Include name, address, grade, school, & parish on back upper right-hand corner.

Posters are due to the Union 4-H office by April 11.Ribbon awards will be given on the Parish Level. First Place Parish winning poster will move to the State Level. Winning posters at the State Level will receive cash prizes! Winning posters become the property of the Extension Service & will be displayed at statewide events.

  • Division I: 4th-6th grades
  • Division II: 7th-8th grades
  • Division III: 9th-12th grades

Good Luck to our 4-Her’s competing in the Regional Shooting Sports to be held on March 14th-20th!
