4-H Senior Honor Cords

In an effort to recognize graduating 4-H seniors, the Louisiana 4-H Foundation sponsors the 4-H Honor Cord awards.

Qualifications are:

  • Must be a graduating Senior.
  • Must have been a 4-H member for 3 years.
  • Must have participated in at least 1 state sponsored program within the last 3 years.

Lego Building Workshop

Union Parish 4-H will hold a LEGO Workshop on Saturday February 12, 2022, from 10-12. This workshop is all about hands on learning, having fun with LEGO bricks and inspiring creativity. All LEGO’s will be provided, so just bring yourself and your creativity!

Lego Building Contest

Due Friday, February 25,2022. 8am-4:30pm

After the workshop you can put your creativity to the test!

  • Open to all 4-H members in grades 4th-12th
  • You may create your own Lego design
  • You must be able to carry your design yourself and it must be able to fit on half of a desktop. (nothing that is going to be needing a whole table or several tables) 11x14 max.
  • Describe what you have built on the label.
  • 1st-3rd places will be announced the following day.
  • Add: Name, Grade, School, and description of design on an index card with your design.

4-H Outdoor Grilling Workshop!

Date Has Not Been Determined. Come join us for the next grilling workshop with a local Grill Master on how to grill, grilling safety tips, and food safety! It will be open for all 4-H’ers in grades 4th-12th . Seating is limited so call and reserve your spot! Social distancing will be practiced and masks must be worn. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 318-368-9935.

Cookery Contest

Monday, January 24, 2022 at the 4-H Office.

Registration 5:30 P.M. Judging 6:00 P.M.

*** Must Bring Copy of Recipe with Dish

Requirements:

  • New Rule: Contestants will enter 2 servings of their dish already in individual containers with lids. Each serving must be in its own container and not a Ziploc bag. (Along with the prepared dish for display).
  • Dishes must already be prepared and ready to serve. Dishes must be chilled (cold to touch) and transported in an insulated ice chest with ice. No insulated totes or bags will be allowed. Dishes not properly chilled will be disqualified.
  • Dishes must be covered in ice chest.
  • Serving dish no larger than 11x16 or 12-inch round. Recipes should not serve more than 12 servings.

1) Rice Main Dish – Dish must contain at least one cup of uncooked rice or two cups of cooked rice (white or brown rice). If contestant is using bran instead of rice, the recipe must contain at least 1/4 cup of rice bran. Wild rice is acceptable if there are two cups of cooked white or brown rice also included in the recipe.

2) Rice Any Other – Dish must contain at least one cup of uncooked rice or two cups of cooked rice (white or brown rice). If contestant is using bran instead of rice, the recipe must contain at least 1/4 cup of rice bran. Wild rice is acceptable if there are two cups of cooked white or brown rice also included in the recipe. Any type of rice dish other a main dish may be entered. Salad, dessert, and/or side dish.

3) Pecan - Dish must contain at least one cup of pecans. Any type of pecan dish may be entered.

4) Sweet Potato - Any type of sweet potato dish may be entered. Dish must contain a minimum of one cup of fresh, canned, or frozen sweet potatoes.
