In the October 2021 issue of the Sugar Bulletin, the “Differences in Use of Octapol® and Clearpol® Filter Aids to Clarify Cane Juices” article was published.
Octapol® has been the clarifying (filtration) aid used for many years at Louisiana factories to determine pol values in core lab juices, as well as other cane products across the factory. However, the availability of this problem has become an issue as well as the quality batches. Clearpol® is a new filter aid that is recently being marketed in the LA industry and is being used in Central and South America, Asia, and some refineries in the US. Some of the most relevant results of a systematic and scientific research study conducted at ASI to compare the use of Octapol® and Clearpol® were published in the Sugar Bulletin.
