Livestock Producers Impacted by Hurricane Laura

Due to Hurricane Laura’s devastation across our parishes and the impact it has had on our infrastructure with pastures, fences, pens, barns, etc. there have been many people across Louisiana and numerous states that have been and are willing to send donations (hay, feed, fencing supplies, etc.). The Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association, the Louisiana Farm Bureau, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, and the LSU AgCenter are working together to help organize and secure donations and to ensure that these donations are distributed in a timely, organized, and equitable manner. The needs of our cattle industry are ignificant right now and these donations will only go so far, but it is a start to help the rebuilding process.

Because of the great need, there will be an application form that must be completed and returned by each livestock producer to help assess the needs of your operation and see what supplies are needed and what can be donated. The applications will be available through the LSU AgCenter website (www.lsuagcenter.com/applicationforassistance), through AgCenter Social Media or in hand at local feed stores that are open.

Completed application forms will need to be returned by Wednesday, September 30, 2020. At that time, a committee will review the applications and you will be contacted to arrange pickup if donations are available.
