Growers are harvesting the remaining first crop rice fields as quickly as possible this week before the potential arrival of two hurricanes. Currently the storms are classified as Tropical Storm Laura and Tropical Depression Fourteen. However, both are expected to make landfall on Tuesday. While the exact landfall of the two storms are not certain, both have the potential to hit rice production areas in Louisiana and Texas. There is also a possibility that the two storms could interact with each other moving the tracks and even combine into one storm. Figure 1 in the PDF shows the current track of the two storms.
The LSU AgCenter would like to begin gathering agriculture information from producers and consultants using very short 1 question surveys. The purpose of the surveys are to gather information so that the AgCenter can better address the needs of the Louisiana Ag industry. To access today’s survey question, simply open up the camera on your cell phone and scan the QR code. This will bring you to a website where you can answer the survey question.
