Healthy Recipe Spotlight: Fresh Veggie Dip

Summer is here! This hot seasonal weather calls for a great time to snack on fresh fruits and vegetables. A diet rich in vegetables can reduce your risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Vegetables can also protect against some types of cancer. Try to eat a variety of different colored vegetables, which will help you get a variety of different nutrients!

Fresh Veggie Dip

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
  • 1/3 cup salsa of choice
  • 8 Tablespoons green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh vegetables, for dipping (example: baby carrots, celery sticks, bell pepper strips, broccoli florets, sugar snap peas, cauliflower florets)

Directions:

  • Mix together sour cream, salsa, green onions, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Stir well.
  • Serve dip with fresh vegetables.
