Flavors of Health - Tip of the Week - Garlic

GarlicjpgMay is International Mediterranean Month!

The Mediterranean Diet is “not a diet, but a healthy life-style approach” (LSU AgCenter). The diet consists of eating traditional food from around Mediterranean countries, using the Mediterranean Food Guide Pyramid as a tool, incorporating physical activity, and eating meals socially.

Health Benefits

Did you know that garlic is a staple ingredient in Mediterranean dishes? Garlic has health benefits including being heart healthy and it can lower your blood pressure. According to the USDA, garlic is best consumed when it is crushed and lightly cooked.
