If I already have my private pesticide applicator license, do I need to attend the review and test session?


Why do I need a Private Pesticide Applicator License?

Part of your responsibilities will be explaining pesticide safety and environmental awareness to the public. This license will provide you with the appropriate background knowledge to do so.

Where can I purchase the Private Pesticide Applicator study book?

Books can be purchased by calling the Pesticide Safety Education Program or online.

Where can I take the Private Pesticide Applicator test?

PPA exams are no longer administered at the LSU AgCenter parish offices. You must go to a Louisiana Department of Agriculture of Forestry office to take the exam.

Complete the following information on the attached form and send to address in bold on the bottom of the form.

Under Purpose: select if initial or retesting

Under Role: Private Pesticide Applicator

Exam Site: Where you want to take the test depending on where you are in the state

Exam Requested: Private Pesticide Applicator

You will then be contacted by LDAF to set a date and time for PPA exam at the location you chose on the form.

What score do I need to pass the Private Pesticide Applicator test?

70% or higher.

If I don't pass the Private Pesticide Applicator test can I take it again?

Yes, you may retake the test later at your nearest LDAF Office.

Does my Private Pesticide Applicator License expire?

Yes. If you want to renew your license you will need to attend a recertification class every three years.
