Two workshops on running an agritourism business Nov. 8, 10

(09/28/16) BATON ROUGE, La. – Two workshops will be held in November by the LSU AgCenter to provide information about financial and legal aspects of running an agritourism business.

The first will be held on Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., at the LSU AgCenter H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station, 1373 Caffey Road, Rayne, 70578.

The second session will be Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., at the LSU AgCenter Red River Research Station, 262 Research Station Drive, Bossier City, 71112.

Topics at both workshops will include the steps to becoming a certified agritourism operation, risk diversification, and liability insurance.

Examples of an agritourism businesses open to tourists include farms and ranches, vegetable gardens, fruit and nut orchards, and Christmas tree farms.

The $15 workshop fee, which includes refreshments and meals, must be paid by Nov. 3.

Checks payable to LSU AgCenter, with the attendee’s name, mailing address, email address, and phone number should be mailed to Dr. Maria Bampasidou, LSU Campus, 234 Martin Woodin Hall, Baton Rouge, La., 70803.
