Regular Physical Activity Keeps You Healthy

Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana, sliced
  • 2 cups fresh spinach or 1.5 cups frozen spinach
  • 2 ½ cups original almond milk (Silk brand)
  • 3 Tbsp. almond butter
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • dash of vanilla (optional)

Directions:

  • Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Serves 5.

Nutrition Analysis:

  • Each serving: 223 calories, 5.5 g fat, 9 mg cholesterol, 238 mg sodium, 2 g dietary fiber, 4 g protein

Youth should have 60 minutes of exercise each day. Karen Marie Jones, MPH, RD, LDN, Area Nutrition Agent for the LSU AgCenter worked with high school youth in Jefferson parish in September 2019. They created smoothies by pedaling the blender bike.
