(This event is open to 4-H Members and Non 4-H Members!)

Pet Show!

Registration: 5:00pm-5:30pm

Registration Fee is $1 per animal being entered.

Types of pets that may be entered are Dogs, Birds, Cats, Fish, Rabbits, Reptiles, Any Other (Ex. Hamsters, Guinea Pigs, and Gerbils) Dogs must be on a leash. Please do not bring dogs that may bite or any type of animal that may cause injury to a person. Bring only healthy animals that are up to date on vaccinations.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest!

Pumpkins can be dropped off anytime on October 15, 2021.The 4-H Office hours are from 8:00am-4:30pm.

Pumpkin must be dropped off by 5:30pm in order to participate. Judging will begin at that time.

Categories Include: Scariest Pumpkin, Funniest Pumpkin, Most Original Pumpkin, and Most 4-H Spirit.

Trunk or Treat:

5:00pm-6:30

We will need you to submit the following information: Shirt Order, please note if you are ordering adult or child size, your name, and your preferred contact information. Please let us know if you want to pick up your shirt from the 4-H office or delivered to your school of choice.

Cookery Contest!

  • Cup Cake Challenge: Rules: Three identical cupcakes will be submitted. Go wild and be creative! (Cannot be store bought cupcakes-must be baked by 4-H’er)

ALLEN PARISH FAIR

NOVEMBER 17-20, 2021

This event is held at the Allen Parish Fair Grounds.

Every 4-H member is encouraged to enter at least one article in the fair.

The premiums:1st - $3.00; 2nd - $2.00; and 3rd - $1.00.

Entries will be taken from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, November 15 & 16.Wednesday, November 17th from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. will be the culinary entries only.

ALLEN PARISH FAIR PARADE

Each 4-H club is encouraged to have an entry in the parade. The three categories are: Decorated Float, Decorated Car, and Marching Unit. (Note: Line up west of fair grounds @ 9:15 a.m., Friday November 19, 2021)

******Once the Fair Board provides a Fair Book we will share it with 4-H Members. This book includes everything you need to know pertaining to this event.

Sweet Potato Fundraiser!

Boxes of cured Louisiana sweet potatoes are being sold in 10 Pound boxes for $10.

We encourage our 4-H members to sale sweet potatoes! It is such a wonderful opportunity for the community to support our program. Money earned from the sale will benefit the Allen Parish 4-H Program.

  • All forms and money must be turned into the 4-H office by NOVEMBER 12th
  • Top Seller will receive $100.00 and Top Club will receive $50.00
  • The members that wish to participate will be responsible for picking them up from the 4-H Office.
  • Sweet Potatoes can be picked up from the 4-H Office from November 17th-19th.

The 4-H office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Come join the fun for a morning of painting on a canvas. We will provide all the paint, brushes, canvas, and a local artist to give step by step instructions for completing a painting.

Chef Club

What is Chef Club? Chef Club is an after-school project club.4-H Members learn how to cook healthy, fun recipes! They also experience some form of physical activity! The club meetings are led by experienced Junior Leaders, Volunteers, and 4-H Agent.

We meet up at the 4-H office! Club time is 4:00pm-5:00pm, unless specified differently in the Clover Talk. Our first club meeting is October 19, 2021. This year we will be learning about foods from the Garden.

Does it cost to join Chef Club? Membership Fee:$20! Your membership fee will cover all chef club activities. The member will also receive a T-Shirt at Achievement Day! Dues must be paid by December Club Meeting

National 4-H Week

National 4-H Week is a great time to promote 4-H and all the opportunities it has to offer!

What are you doing to show your 4-H Spirit?

  • KMS and KES 4-H Clubs are putting clovers on the bottom of lunch trays. If you find a clover you get a prize!
  • Fairview 4-H will post the provided SPARK posters around the school to inform FHS students, faculty and staff of 4-H opportunities. We will also take up donations for hurricane victims and provide snacks for faculty and staff periodically throughout the week. They are also working on getting a new American flag donated to the school.
  • During National 4-H Week the students at Reeves will be making posters that promote drug prevention to be hung-up around the school.
  • KHS Members are doing a community service project for Head Start!

Shooting Sports

Allen Parish 4H Shooting Sports is off to a great start! Participants MUST have 8 hours of practice with a 4H instructor by February 2022. Participants10 years of age or older MUST complete a hunter education course and bring a copy of your card to the 4H office. Practices will be held at the 3D Shooting Center (6934 North Hwy 165 Oberlin) Please call our office if you need additional information on how to join Allen Parish Shooting Sports
