Caddo Parish 2021 Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program Report

During the 20201 year, EFNEP enrolled participants throughout Caddo Parish. One professional and two paraprofessionals taught EFNEP classes at a variety of locations. Our target audience includes limited-resource individuals. Participants included youth grades Kindergarten through 12thgrade and adults who are raising youth. Participants completed enrollment and exit surveys which included questions to assess nutrition knowledge and behavior changes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing, some groups joined lessons in-person, while others joined virtually.

2021 EFNEP Sites:

  • 1 adult education and training site
  • 3 places of worship
  • 5 community centers
  • 1 Head Start site
  • 6 schools
  • 2 other youth education sites

Caddo Parish EFNEP Reach:

  • 518 residents participated in EFNEP educational series
  • 39 adults enrolled in nutrition education series
  • 479 youth enrolled in nutrition education series
  • 134 total family participants
  • 100% of EFNEP adult participants reported income at or below 185% of poverty level

2021 Caddo Parish EFNEP Results:

Adult Outreach:

  • 95% improved food resource management practices
  • 95% improved diet quality
  • 63% improved physical activity behaviors
  • 55% improved food safety practices
  • 5% improved food security

Youth Outreach:

  • 83% improved ability to choose foods according to the Dietary Guidelines
  • 56% physical activity practices
  • 0% acquired skills to be food secure
  • 59% improved food safety practices
  • 48% improved ability to prepare simple, nutritious affordable food
