(02/25/22) BATON ROUGE, La. — Satisfy your green thumb at the LSU AgCenter Spring Garden Show and Arts and Crafts Market to be held March 12 and 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Parker Coliseum on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.
As in past years, the show will feature a weekend full of flowers, fun, a food truck and other concessions.
AgCenter horticulturist Heather Kirk-Ballard said this year the Baton Rouge Zoo will be there with a small petting zoo.
“This year there will be an AgCenter Ask the Expert booth with extension specialists Raj Singh, Kiki Fontenot, Ron Strahan and myself,” she said. “We will be there to help answer all your gardening questions.”
Kirk-Ballard said all sorts of vendors selling plants, garden art, ceramics and crafts will be on hand. The LSU Horticulture Club also will be selling plants, and garden interest groups will be there too.
“We are so excited to be able to hold the garden show after two long years,” she said. “People have been asking about it and are excited to have it back.”
During the pandemic, the world gained 18.3 million new gardeners, she said, and people are itching to get outside again this spring to continue working.
“We want to keep those gardeners successful and we are here to support their efforts with plant materials and information for the public,” Kirk-Ballard said. “We hope to get back bigger and better in the years to come and expand the garden show to accommodate and support all those new gardeners out there.”
Other features at the event include children’s activities. Adult admission is $5 per person.
The event is free for LSU and Southern University students and children under 12 years old. For information, call 225-578-1205.
