(02/18/19) BATON ROUGE, La. — A weekend full of food, flowers and fun is scheduled for Baton Rouge on March 9 and 10, when the 15th annual Baton Rouge Spring Garden Show and the 11th annual Louisiana State and Regional Chili Cook-off will come to the LSU campus.
The garden show will be held at the John M. Parker Coliseum at LSU. It will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day and include numerous vendors selling plants and a variety of yard, garden and patio merchandise.
LSU AgCenter horticulturist Ed Bush said the floor of the coliseum will be transformed into a world of plants and gardens for the event. Children’s activities will be available in the Kids Zone.
You can have your gardening questions answered by experts from the LSU AgCenter and local plant societies, Bush said.
Visitors can have their gardening questions answered by AgCenter specialists and bring soil samples for analysis, he said.
In addition to the garden show, people also can visit the 11th annual Louisiana State and Regional Chili Cook-off in the nearby AgCenter Mini Farm building.
“You can see the best chili cooks in action and sample some of their great recipes,” Bush said. Other foods will be available.
Admission is $5 for adults; children under 12 will be admitted at no charge.
