Louisianians win national awards at nutrition conference

(11/08/18) BATON ROUGE, La. — Two LSU AgCenter employees won national awards and two others won a regional award at the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Session held in San Antonio, Texas, Sept. 24-27.

Area nutrition agent Layne Langley was a first-place national winner of the Communications Photography Award.

Her award was for her Green Thumb Club submission on school gardens at Bains Lower Elementary School in rural West Feliciana Parish.

AgCenter consumer food safety specialist Wenqing “Wennie” Xu was the third-place winner of the Social Media Education-Online Media Award. Team members for the award included Tobie Blanchard and Randy LaBauve from the AgCenter Communications department.

Ouachita Parish agents Cathy Agan and Markaye Russell took third place in the Southern Region Communications Television and Video Program category for their Farm to Table on Louisiana Living entry.

Langley said 16 states make up the southern region, where Louisiana competes.
