(10/06/18) BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU AgCenter LaHouse Home and Landscape Resource Center will open its doors to the public on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate its 10-year anniversary as an educational showcase of research-based solutions for Southern homes.
The open house will highlight healthy home and universal design strategies as well as many other energy-efficient and resilient home features, cutaways, models, videos and free publications, said AgCenter housing specialist Claudette Reichel.
“You can see home features that reduce mold, dust mites, lead, and other common indoor pollutants,” she said. “You’ll experience ‘design for life’ features that create a convenient and safe home for all ages and stages of the life.”
Experts will be available to answer questions. There also will be anniversary cake to enjoy and a LaHouse timeline display for a glimpse of its history and impacts.
LaHouse is open for self-guided tours Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and opens its doors one Saturday each season to accommodate those who cannot visit during regular business hours or who want to speak with AgCenter housing experts.
LaHouse is located at 2858 Gourrier Ave. in Baton Rouge across from the Alex Box Stadium.
