Dr. Gentry received his bachelor's degree in animal science from Louisiana State University. He was employed as a ranch manager for J.B. Hunt Ranches in Fayetteville, Ark., before becoming an animal science research associate at the LSU AgCenter's Idlewild Research Station, where he worked for 17 years. During this time he received both his master's and doctoral degrees from Louisiana State University.
