4-H University 2025

Each year 4-H members who are in the 8th-12th grade as of August 1, 2024, are eligible to participate in 4-H University on the LSU Campus to demonstrate their skills in more than 30+ competitive events.

4-H University is also an opportunity for you to explore the LSU campus, experience dormitory life, eat like a college student, visit with college faculty members, and learn more about possible career choices.

For those who wish to attend 4-H U and not compete, there is always Clover College. (Once Tracks are Released)This is your chance to fit into a college student’s shoes and explore potential career opportunities. You will attend hand-on workshops and seminars on and off LSU campus. Then you will rejoin your parish for all the assemblies and other fun activities. State deadline for leadership board application packet is May 1st to State Office. Registration deadline for 4-HU Contestants and Clover College participants is May 14, 2025.

Beef Poster Contest

Due April 1, 2025

Division I - Grades 4-6; Division II - Grades 7-9; Division III - Grades 10-12;Digital Poster - All Ages

Awards: Parish: Ribbons will be given to all contestants. First place winners will receive a rosette ribbon. Cash awards will be given to state winners.

Beef Poster Contest: Theme - “Beef - Very Healthful, Very Delicious”- State Division Winners: $200, $100, and $50
Create a poster centered around marketing and communicating the all-around health, nutrition, or promotion of Beef. Poster must be on 22” x 28” white poster board. Digital Submissions (May only compete in digital or poster, not both) - Digital entries must be designed using one of the following programs: Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or Canva. Digital designs should be formatted for “22 x 28” poster size prints. All digital entries must be saved in high-resolution 300 DPI in ALL of the following: original design file, .png file format, and a .pdf file format.

Place your name, address, age, grade in school and parish on the upper right corner of the back of the poster. *Poster should generate positive images of beef and beef products and not portray negative images of other food products. Get ideas from magazines, parents, friends, nutrition bulletins, meat publications. Sponsored by Louisiana Beef Industry Council.


Camp Counselor Training

Teens interested in further developing there leadership skills and willing to accept the challenge that comes with working with youth in overnight and day camp situations need to complete the mandatory Camp Counselor Training.Benefits include:Traveling to new places, meeting new faces, networking with other teen from across the state, hanging out and partnering with adult volunteer and leaders, working hard and having fun!!

Interested youth must complete the training course which involves about 3 hours of online training and three hours in class training. Get a head start by completing the online course and print your certificates at “learn.lsuagcenter.com”. All users, including volunteers, will have to login using Google, Facebook or other service. Louisiana Camp Counselor Training is located under “Courses” then select “4-H Camp Counselor Training. If prompted to enter a code, the key is LACCT.

Challenge Camp 2025

Join us for this year’s 4-H “Beyond Ready” (space themed)

Challenge Camp slated for February 27-28, 2025.

Challenge Camp is geared for 4-H members in the 7th and 8th
graders. The camp is designed for youth to develop and build
Leadership, Communication, and Teamwork Skills. This year’s adventure camp will be held at the Lions Camp in Anacoco.
Registration for Challenge Camp is $70 which includes lodging, meals, shirt, activities, and transportation.

So if you're ready to accept the challenge of this fun-filled educational, challenging, and service-style camp be sure to sign-up. Positions are filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Limited spots, we will create a waiting list for open spots. Register via your 4H Online account. Registration opens 12/19 and closes 2/17. Applicants will be approved when payment is received!

Dairy Poster Contest

Due April 1, 2025

Division I - Grades 4-6; Division II - Grades 7-8; Division III - Grades 9-12 Poster - State Division Winners: $100, $75, and $50
Awards: Parish: Ribbons will be given to all contestants. First place winners will receive a rosette ribbon. Cash awards will be given to state winners. Learn more about milk and milk products and importance they play to healthy bodies. Create a billboard encouraging and promoting the milk. 4‑H club members are to draw a billboard that encourages or promotes the consumption of milk and milk products from Dairy Cattle Only and their importance for health.

Food Challenge 2025

The Louisiana 4-H Food Challenge competition which calls teams of 4-H members to

create a dish using only a key ingredient and access to a “grocery store” of other ingredients. From the ingredients, team members are challenged to create a healthy dish while practicing proper food safety, food preparation, and communication skills. Following the dish preparation, teams then present to a panel of judges who will further test their
culinary and nutrition knowledge with a question and answer segment.

The competition will be held on March 12, 2025 at the State Evacuation Center, Alexandria, LA
If you are interested in participating, please call the 4-H at 992-2205 ASAP. An online training is scheduled for 1/28/25.
Registration closes 2/26/25.
A team of 2-4 members is required. Division I: 4th – 6th graders Division II: 7th – 8th graders Division III: 9th – 12th graders

We will need a parent volunteer to work with the youth in preparing for the contest. The 4-H Office will furnish the supply box.

Junior Leadership Conference

4-H’ers 14 years of age and older.If you are interested in developing leadership, teamwork skills, communication skills, hanging out with other teens and having a great time, then come register for the 2024 Jr. Leadership Conference.The conference begins March 7 at 2:00 pm and conclude March 9 at 11:00 am.Camp Grant Walker in Pollock. Cost to attend is $150.

The conference features a variety of workshops focused on leadership development, communication, teamwork, service learning, and time management. A key element of the conference is its youth-driven focus. State 4-H Executive Board members from across the state plan the sessions and teach all the educational tracks. Participants will rank their choice of tracks during registration and participate in two. Tracks to be released soon. Bring a few 4-H shirts for the t-shirt exchange!

Transportation is on your own or carpool with a fellow 4-H’er.This will be a first come first served basis. Online registration opened 1/13 and closes 2/7/25.4-H office will begin registration via 4H Online, then 4-H’er completes online health form and media release through their online account.

Louisiana 4-H Esports Regional Tournaments

Central Region Tournament - March 29 Alexandria

The Louisiana 4-H Esports “season” is underway! The season consists of 5 Regional Tournaments and concludes with Finals at 4-H University for senior division members. This season will have a Junior Division (grades 5-7) and Senior Division (grades 8-12).

Three titles will be offered at each Regional Tournament, and Rocket League for 4-H University. Titles include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Jr. Division), Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Youth can compete in multiple titles at the same tournament! Senior Division teams competing in Rocket League will also be qualifying for their invitation to compete in the Finals at 4-H University.

Marsh Maneuvers Camp

(9th - 12th Grade)
We are looking for someone who enjoys the outdoors and would like to experience one of the best camping experience ever!

Adventures include a tour of the marsh in an airboat, helping restore wetlands by planting marsh grass, crabbing, fishing, learning about the dynamic cost of Louisiana, alligator biology, and touring the Tabasco Factory and Jungle Gardens at Avery Island, and much more!
LaSalle’s scheduled MM Camp week is July 14-18, 2025. Due to a limited camp attendance, there will be selection process after registration application has been received in the 4-H Office.

Senior Honor Cords

The 4-H Honor Cord Award recognizes 4-H members who are graduating seniors. For 4-H youth

to receive the 4-H Honor Cord, they must meet the following requirements:
Be a currently enrolled 4-H member and in good standing, Must be a graduating senior,
Must have been enrolled in 4-H for at least 3 years of their high school career,
Must have participated in at least one state sponsored activity.

Strawberry Sales Fundraiser

Everybody loves delicious sweet strawberries!

LaSalle 4-H members will have the opportunity to sell strawberry flats.
A portion of the proceeds each member sells will be applied towards 4-H’ers attending summer camp, LOST camp, 4-H University, other 4-H events and activities, or maybe you will be the top salesperson!. Orders and payment will be due to the 4-H Office by 3/18/25. Strawberry Order pickup will be (tentatively) on March 25 from 3-6 p.m. at the courthouse.
Order forms will be available at 4-H Club Meetings and the 4-H Office.

Summer Camp 2025

Mark your Calendar!! It’s time to plan for 4-H Summer Camp! LaSalle camp dates are May 26-29, 2025.Cost-$260 that covers transportation, lodging, and meals. Parents: we will need overnight chaperones to attend our camp week!

Members in grades 4-6 are eligible to attend 4-H camp and make great memories that will last a lifetime. Campers will get to choose from fun education tracks and enjoy camp recreation time.

Camp deposit of $75 is due by April 7. Final balances due May 1. A parent or guardian must complete online camp registration after the camp deposit is received in the 4-H Office.
There are many scholarships available; some that covers $250 of the camp fee. Any youth in need of financial assistance will need to contact the 4-H Office for paperwork details. Chancellor scholarships provide a $60 credit; this does not include the required camp deposit.

Trips, Scholarships, and Awards

Record keeping is a life skill that will benefit you for years to come.

Records show what you have done and learned during your 4-H club work. The 4-H portfolio booklet is designed to help you keep your records and other supporting materials in an orderly manner. A Record Book consist of the Project Book or a Project Summary (in place of the book) and up to three (3) years of your 4-H portfolio.

The Record books that are completed and turned in to the 4-H office by April 1 will be judged, and recognition/awards will be given for each outstanding book.Keep this book from year to year and add to it. You may include up to three years of 4-H work in your portfolio. Many awards, educational trips and college scholarships are obtained by project work and completion of portfolio.
Don't wait until the last minute to enter your information - work on it regularly. Contact the 4-H Office if you would like a specific project book; or to obtain a copy of the portfolio for 4-H record keeping. The portfolio can also be found on the web at https://bit.ly/3C648pb

Wildlife Workshop

Fourth - 6th Grade 4-H’ers, join the Jr. Leaders as we embark through nature. Learn about alligators and their remarkable come back here in Louisiana. Explore the different variations of squirrels the sportsmen’s paradise has to offer. Create a squirrel or bird feeder to feed our furry or feathery friends. Deadline to register so we have supplies ready is March 14. We kickoff the workshop March 24 at 9:00 am! If you have any food allergies, please list when registering!
