It’s that time of year again!! Grant Parish 4-H will be selling boxes of World’s Finest Chocolate as a fundraiser for the 2023-2024 school year.All profits go toward the Grant Parish 4-H Club to help pay for Summer Camp, Challenge Camp, LOST Camp, 4-H University, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematic (STEAM) activities, and other parish events and contest. If you are interested in selling World’s Finest Chocolate, please contact our office @ 318-627-3675 or email lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu.Each box is $60, payable by check or cashier’s check to Grant Parish 4-H. Chocolate sales will begin Oct 10. The top selling 4-H members will be awarded cash prizes of:
1st place - $100
2nd place - $75
3rd place - $50
Help Louisiana 4-H celebrate many years of camping at Camp Grant Walker! Send us your most creative idea for a theme in 5 words or less. Illustrations of your theme must accompany the phrase and will be a part of the contest. Contest is open to all Louisiana 4-H youth. The winning theme will be selected based on its ability to be “catchy” and captures the spirit of camping at Camp Grant Walker. The theme will be used on all publicity for camp, including the 2024 camp t-shirt. The winner will be awarded a monetary award! Think fast—the deadline is October 23, 2023. Submissions must also include the full name and age of person submitting the slogan, your parish and 4-H club, complete mailing address, and telephone number. Individuals may submit multiple entries.
All youth must complete online enrollment and pay club dues by the date set by their school to be a member of the Grant Parish 4-H Club.
A club member must be a bona fide 4-H member no less than 30 days prior to a parish, district, area, regional, state or national event to be eligible to participate. 4-H member participating in the Livestock program must be a bona fide 4-H member by possession date of the livestock species you are showing. https://v2.4honline.com/

The 4-H Fashion Board would like to invite you to come experience the "new" Fashion & Beyond On Tour. You will get a closer look at all aspects of the fashion world, from newspaper runways, color wheels, upcycling, fibers, to basic sewing fundamentals. You will engage in multiple sessions of activities planned by the fabulous fashion board. Items to bring:

2. Adult Medium sized t-shirt to cut up
Join us at one of our venues as we travel the state bringing fashion to your fingertips!

Celebrate National 4-H Week October 1-October 7!!! 4-H Clubs across America will be celebrating National 4-H week. This year’s theme is “4-H is a feeling” Join the festivities by planning special events within your club/school. Ideas include: cookies for the teachers, a 4-H display in the hall or bulletin board, wearing green/white tee shirts, sponsoring a poster contest, or passing out 4-Leaf clovers. We know you can think of many more ideas.
Deadline for poster is Nov. 1, you can drop them off at the 4-H office or bring them to school for pick-up.
This contest will help participants learn more about how to grow pecans and the process they go through to reach our tables after harvesting. Participants are to create a visual form of marketing to convey thoughts and ideas about pecans.

Trick-or-Treat!!! You are invited to participate in the Decorated Pumpkin Contest on October 24, 2023.Bring your pumpkin fully decorated to B22Fit, Auditorium. Event begins at 5:00pm, judging begins at 5:30pm. We will play games while the pumpkins are being judged. Pumpkins may be any size, foam or real and can be decorated in any age-appropriate theme.Look online for some great ideas!
There will be 2 divisions:
Take your pumpkin home with you once the judging is complete and prizes are awarded. Please call the office to register your pumpkin at 627-3675, email lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu, or request the QR code.
If you are planning to participate in the Record Book Portfolio Contest for the 2023-2024 club year, please come by the 4-H office or e-mail lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu.Go to www.shop4-h.org/pages/curriculum to see the complete project book selection. All 4-H members in grade 4-12 may receive ONE project book with their membership. Club members may select any project book they desire with the exception of 4th and 5th grade members. All 4th grade members will receive Discovering the World of 4-H and all 5th grade members will receive Exploring the World of 4-H project books. 4-H members can only request 1 project book but can enroll in more than 1 project area. Come by the office, to pick up your project book for the contest!
Record Book winners will win a spot on the Junior Winner Trip!
You must be enrolled in 4-H Online with your school, parish, and state dues paid, before you will be allowed to practice for shooting sports. The coaches have the list of participants and will be contacting you with practice dates and times. For gear information, visit www.lsuagcenter.com/grant. Adult volunteer coaches are needed. The Shooting Camp will be held December 8-10, 2023 in Pollock at Grant Walker Educational Facility. The camp is open to 4-H Youth ages 9-13 years old. Participants will choose one of the following: Archery, Shotgun, .22 Rifle or Air Rifle/Air Pistol/BB (Combined). Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend but it is not mandatory. The cost will be $120 per youth/per adult which will cover registration, lodging, meals and t-shirt. All youth will be required to bring their own bow/firearm and arrows/ammo. Deadline to register is November 20.

The State 4-H Service Project for 2023-2024 is “Hunger and Poverty”. Our Parish will conduct a service-learning project to help people in our community. Each school club will work on a project to help combat hunger and poverty in our parish.
