How to Join 4-H

Returning Members

New Members

  • Log into your family account
  • Beside your name, click “Enroll Now”
  • Enter Grade
  • Confirm you want to enroll in Louisiana 4-H as a Youth
  • Click “Enroll”
  • Check primary school, click “Next”
  • Select projects, click “Next”
  • Verify information, click “Next”
  • Sign Medical Release, Hold Harmless, Media Release, & Youth Code of Conduct, click “Next”
  • Click “Pay By Check”
  • Electronically sign and click “Confirm”
  • Click “Next”
  • Click “Submit”
  • Option to pay state/parish $10 fee online or by check
  • In order to include school dues with state/parish dues in one payment click PAY BY CHECK
  • Your online account will be approved by the Agent after dues are paid.
  • 4th grade “Discovering 4-H” and 5th grade “Exploring 4-H” project books will be provided. All other project books can be purchased at https://shop4-h.org
  • Look over the 4-H Calendar with your parents & check which activities you want to participate in during the year
  • Encourage all your friends to join!! There are so many opportunities for you to learn leadership skills, cooking skills, fashion, shooting sports, livestock, etc. There is something for everyone!!!

4-H represents a group of young people from all over the parish who have fun while “learning by doing”.4-H Club offers a world of opportunities for young people to learn new things, go new places, and meet new people.

School Club Officers – Should be elected/selected by your October club meeting. Your club leader has information that will help your job as an officer run smoothly.

JR. Leader Club

What is a Junior Leader?The 4-H junior leader experience is designed to provide members with the opportunity to learn about the qualities and competencies needed to be a leader.Junior leaders provide assistance with 4-H events and assume more challenging leadership roles.Junior leaders may assist with specific community projects or with more general 4-H activities and events.A 4-H member may enroll if they are at least 13 years or older as of January 1 of the current school year.Our Junior Leader Program is a great place to experience new things, compete in fun contest, meet new friends, travel, and learn the leadership skills necessary in the world!

If you are interested in joining:

  • Attend the meeting Sept 11, @ 6:00pm @ B22 in the Conference Room
  • Enrollment forms will be available at the meeting
  • fee is $10

Shooting Sports

Mark the Date!!!Sign-ups will be August 31, 2023, at 6:00pm at Camp Grant Walker in the Martin Building.There will be a $25 sign-up fee plus a $15 t-shirt fee.

If you like the outdoors and want to learn about firearm safety and improve your marksmanship while competing against other 4-H’ers, you need to join the 4-H Shooting Sports Team.Here you will participate in workshops and contests related to archery, rifle, and shotgun.Practice dates will be announced at a later date. Like our Grant Parish Shooting Sports page on Facebook for information.You must be signed up for 4-H in order to join the Shooting Sport Team.We also need adult volunteers for coaches to be trained.Contact our office at 318-627-3675 or lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu for more information.

If you missed the sign-up, you can still participate by emailing lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu for a registration form. Registration forms must be submitted before September 15 if you would like to purchase a t-shirt.

Statewide Service-Learning Project

The State 4-H Service Project for 2023-2024 is “Hunger and Poverty”. Our Parish will conduct a service-learning project to help people in our community. Each school club will work on a project to help combat hunger and poverty in our parish.

National 4-H Week

Celebrate National 4-H Week October 1-October 7!!! 4-H Clubs across America will be celebrating National 4-H week. This year’s theme is “4-H is a feeling” Join the festivities by planning special events within your club/school. Ideas include: cookies for the teachers, a 4-H display in the hall or bulletin board, wearing green/white tee shirts, sponsoring a poster contest, or passing out 4-Leaf clovers. We know you can think of many more ideas.

4-H Livestock

All exhibitors, new and returning, please email lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu with your intent to show. Please include your name, grade, school, and what animal you plan to show.

Commercial Heifer, Beef Breeding, Steer, Dairy, Lamb, Market Goat, Breeding Goat, Poultry (meat or exhibition), and/or Rabbit (meat or exhibition).

Project Book Selection

If you are planning to participate in the Record Book Portfolio Contest for the 2023-2024 club year, please come by the 4-H office or e-mail lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu. Go to www.shop4-h.org/pages/curriculum to see the complete project book selection. All 4-H members in grade 4-12 may receive ONE project book with their membership. Club members may select any project book they desire with the exception of 4th and 5th grade members. All 4th grade members will receive Discovering the World of 4-H and all 5th grade members will receive Exploring the World of 4-H project books. 4-H members can only request 1 project book but can enroll in more than 1 project area. Come by the office, to pick up your project book for the contest!

Record Book winners will win a spot on the Junior Winner Trip!

Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Trick-or-Treat!!! You are invited to participate in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest on October 27, 2022.Bring your pumpkin fully decorated to B22Fit. Be at B22 between 5:00 pm-6:00 pm, Judging will begin at 6:00pm.Judging will begin promptly at 5:00 pm.Pumpkins may be any size, foam or real and can be decorated in any age-appropriate theme.Look online for some great ideas!

There will be 2 divisions:

  • 4th-6th grade divided into 3 categories: Cutest Pumpkin, Most Creative Pumpkin, and Best Carved.
  • 7th-12th grade pumpkins will not be separated into categories

You may take your pumpkin home with you once the judging is complete and prizes are awarded. Please call the office to register your pumpkin at 627-3675, email lcraig@agcenter.lsu.edu, or scan the QR code.
